I haven't taken a pH on coffee before (that would be fun, just show up to lab like "lol I'm gonna stick mah coffeh in the pH meter") but I did coke/sprite a while back. They're like pH 2.5/3... freaked me out a bit. That's probably why you get that "sting" with your soda, since you're pretty much drinking concentrated phosphoric acid.

In Chicagoland soft drinks are referred to as soda and pop alternately and synonymously. However, at an ice cream parlor or somewhere with such deserts- soda also specifically refers to a carbonated drink / ice cream desert (i.e. root beer float).

It's pop in the UK or "fizzy drink" coz we're so imaginative xD
It's funny the way you talk about the pop/soda divide like it was a split that happened centuries ago when people couldn't agree on the name so they left to form separate colonies.

i live in washington and everyone i know says soda so i say soda but to me it really does not matter what you call it soda, pop, sodapop, softdrinks ect..

so i think the soda pop thing is an east west split cause i'm in kansas and people say both and were in the middle, but i got to missouri and they say soda and i go to nebraska and the say pop.
