writen in 1951, "Day of the Triffids" was John Wyndham's (his full name being John Wyndham Parkes Lucas Beynon Harris) Third Science Novel his first novel being "Worlds to Barter" in 1931. One of his more recocnised books along with the "Midwitch Cuckoos" later to be made into the film "Village of the Damned" John Wyndham is considered to be one of the Greatest Science Fiction writers of all time along with the likes of H.G. Wells and Aurther C. Clark. This is Just a short extract from the first Chapter of "Day of the Triffids".

  • I remember that bit from the book. They ommited that part from both the 1981 & 2009 BBC versions.

    It's a pity John Wyndham didn't write a Doctor Who adventure, in the 60's. Still, The Seeds Of Doom was probably influenced by this.
