This is one of my all-time favorite sketches. It was on The New Show, a short-lived sketch show on NBC. This appeared on January 13, 1984 and featured John Candy and Valerie Bromfeld, with appearances by Dave Thomas, Carrie Fisher, and Paul Simon.

I thought critics were wrong about 'The New Show.' There was some very funny stuff here, including this sketch.

I remember this show fondly. TV Guide wasn't as complimentary. They said it was like Lorne Michaels used rejected SNL material. The New Show aired during his period away from SNL. Does anyone have the skit of Buck Henry and his wife forgetting their camera? They encounter Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, aliens, and Jackie O.

The one on the right is Maggie Jakobsen (now Maggie Wheeler), who played Janice on Friends.

Wow! thanks for putting this up. last year I searched the internet for anything about the New Show and couldn't find anything. Now, am I crazy or did Steve Martin perform Michael Jackson's Billy Jean on one of the episodes, and why hasn't that been released?

Yes, Steve Martin opened the first New Show episode with a take-off of the Billie Jean video.
