Ether Vapor - Doujin Review

11th Review.Ether Vapor, a really cool Doujin with high production values.You can tell from the presentation of the game that it is very professionally produced.This shmup is played both vertically and horizontally.Like a lot of modern shmups, it is all in 3d played on a 2d plane.The levels are divided in 2/3 sequences: first part, mid-level boss, a screen-shooting phase followed by an end level boss.You have at your disposition several weapons(3)which all have their own + and - .Although you could play the game using only the same weapon, the key to success is to switch depending on what enemy/situation you are facing.(the weapons cannot be powered up.).The enmies and stages are well designed and everything looks really crisp.Only negative is that some of the opponents have firepower that is very difficult to see against the background and explosions.You can find yourself dying without knowing where the killing-shot came from.The game is not too hard, but not a walk in the park either.Its the kind of game that in time, you get to know by heart (the levels and enemy formation).A highly recommended shmup.
