I don't understand what he's bitching about? Development? Denser more livable areas that may not actually rely on individual transportation? There are people like this in Dallas too who whine about how their neighborhood used to be so quaint and quiet and now it's being urbanized. hello, you're in the city, get with the program or get out. oil won't be around forever, walkable cities have to be created or guess what, you're city is gonna get left behind, period.

haha, that's pretty funny satire--pretending to be some idiot rush limbaugh sound-alike who complains about "kids these days". omg! a skyscraper? why, that's the *least* efficient use of land possible! wouldn't it be better to pave over a square mile of land and build single-storey strip malls rather than horde that 1 acre lot?

Sir, I don't think you know what urban sprawl is. Honestly, you sound very uneducated and confused about the topic and terminology. What you are showing and describing is not sprawl. It is in fact the opposite of sprawl when things become DENSER, when retail and housing become closer to each other. You actually were living in a "sprawl" area PRIOR to the Starbucks (etc.) moving in.

Haha...funny to hear someone get upset by growth and new development. I am sure you can go to plenty of places in the US that are declining in growth and no new developments planned. With that being said....cheer up...you should have no trouble finding a place that has not changed in the last 15 years. Also, I wouldn't consider this "urban sprawl" There are plenty of hi-rises in the area of vinings, cumberland, & interstate north... I think the area is similar to Buckhead.

There a difference between growth and uban Sprawl. Uban sprawl is the metro spreading not growing upward, metro atlanta is 28 counties that sprawl. Vinings is next to Atlanta in the center!!!!!! its in one of the five core counties "cobb" that not urban sprawl. In fact cause of urban sprawl the area wasn't dense!!!!! you got it backwards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Heard, Dawson, Spalding Counties they should be complaining not cobb...... Vinings is 15min from atlanta Griffin is 90mins dude

It looks like the land in Vinings is being more used more efficiently.
Here in the Chicago area we are experiencing suburban sprawl.
Houses are being built 60 miles from downtown Chicago in the middle of some of the best farmland in the world. People then complain because a farmer is still raising livestock on his land & offensive smells are being produced. The formerly rural roads are clogged with cars wasting gasoline & producing more air pollution.

I believe in denser development. It is what we will need in the long run. We won't always be able to rely on cars.
I know the sprawl is spreading every where! That's why I moved to the western North Carolina mountains where now because of NO zoning laws we are seeing Atlanta developers grab up the land here to build new 1100 acre second home developments. Of course with the recent economic downturn the one in my area has been considerably slowed down. Thank goodness!

God help you if you have to evacuate your DENSER area! Has that EVER crossed your mind? I'm also a consultant to communities on emergency preparedness having appeared on Fox, CNN, Coast to Coast, etc.

Sprawl is not the denser development going on in inner ring suburbs. Sprawl is the low density development further from the center of the city, where farm land usually was. Denser development is ANTI sprawl. It creates communities where people have the choice to rely on transit or walking to get around. It creates jobs and businesses near residential areas. Get it straight mister! You obviously do not know what sprawl is if you that that's what these new developments are!

Evidently you are one that is proponent of either one! Probably one of the greedy developers that is creating the sh-t!

I just spent way too much time in the Atlanta area and "Vinings" is nothing but a sprawl neighborhood before it was called sprawl. It is not in the Atlanta urban center, it is sprawl from sprawl's beginning. This guy is misleading the public into believing that this was a rural area when he was growing up; instead, it was one of the suburb that started what we now know as sprawl.

NEVER did I mention it was rural if you listen to the video carefully so get your facts straight.
