@LordUmber The irony is that he's so determined not to be like them, that he becomes as bad as them in his own way. All of the characters - with the exception of poor old Pingu - are self-centred jerkasses.:D

PS, there's a great bit later back at sugaRAPE when Jonatton Yeah? suggests Ashcroft might drink some Danish wine (or something like that). Jonatton's obviously much better-connected than Dan realises.
