I Feel Like I'm Fixin' To Die Rag

My version of Country Joe McDonald's Anti-War Song.

I recorded this song because I was tired of hearing the Bush Administration and other conservatives try to obscure the similarities between the failed policies of the wars in Vietnam and Iraq:

I am very disappointed that under the Obama administration we are faced with a similar debacle in Afghanistan. Invasion and occupation of a country will not win over its citizens nor stop terrorism.

In Vietnam, we prolonged a civil war.
In Iraq, we've started one.

They wanted us to believe the war in Vietnam was necessary to stop the spread of communism but now China is our most valuable trading partner.
They want us to believe the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are necessary to stop the spread of terrorism but it's actually made things worse, destabilizing the whole region and alienating our allies. And now look at Pakistan!!

The real motivation behind the Iraq war is to make big defense corporations billions of dollars from no-bid contracts given to them by the government, while most of the rest of the USA is not benefiting and is, in fact, in dire need of social assistance.

When we finally left Vietnam, the country unified itself and now exists in peace.
When we finally leave Iraq, the country will probably exist in pieces.

You can bet that the war in Vietnam would still be raging today had the citizens of America not finally expressed sufficient protest and outrage. But the government is wiser now and will try to "manage" the war in Iraq with as little transparency and as much obscufication as possible, for as long as possible, hoping American citizens won't object strongly as the military-industrial complex continues to "rake it in".

Since 9-11, the Bush administration arrogantly did everything it could to exploit the fears of the American public to justify and garner support for the unneccesary war in Iraq. It had done so with a total disregard for honesty, diplomacy, justice and human dignity. It had eroded public confidence in the democratic system by morally and financially bankrupting the country.

It's time to STOP THE WAR(s) and bring our troops home!

Only YOU can help change the course of history by voting.

Obama should end both wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Don't repeat the mistakes of Vietnam and Iraq!!!
