Search keywords "True Denmark" on Google and find official Danish website in English about Denmark, the Danes and the Danish Jante-Law mentality. Denmark's freedom of speech in question?
The word Jantelagen (the law of Jante) first appeared in a book by Aksel Sandemose called "En flykting korsar sitt spår". It's basically a code of conduct which serves to instill a sort of self-defeatist mentality. I wouldn't say it's all negative thou. It's just an extreme form of egalitarianism. Contrary to popluar belief this cultural phenomenon is not exclusive to scandinavia. "Tall poppy syndrome" and "A kent yer faither" could both be seen as non scandinavian variants of "Jantelagen".
Vikings sharing a horn of mead... That's supposedly the origin of the word "lagom", which is short for "laget om". Each viking would take a mouthful and pass the horn along so that every viking would get the same amount of mead. In essence the word signifies moderation. If something is lagom it is "just right", not too much and not too little.

you should not mention jantelagen without mentioning "lagom".
you find janteloven / janteloven in north dakota, in the united states too.
