Heavy cream and the cheese looks like cheddar? Swiss or Gruyere work too. His shortcut to a bechamel cheese sauce. Works for me! Yum!!

oK I;ve been to Paris a few times and have ordered croque monsieus a few times...but never seen anything that even closely resembles this ridiculous americanised version of it. Croque Monsieur is basically a grilled ham and cheese sandwich and the cheese must be ementhel cheese from what I;ve had in Paris. If you;ve never been to france, and see this as a CM, then go to france and order it, you will be sorely dissapointed or maybe pleasantly surprised by the real thing.
