  • he didn't hold the high C long enough & definitely wasn't powerful enough. but i like the video. if you want his greatest performance of che gellida mannina, its in his debut performance on behalf of di stefano in 1961. look to the right suggestion box and look forLuciano Pavarotti - Che Gelida Manina 1961 live...by GermanOperaSinger

  • @maseratiquattroport Pavarotti made his debut in Reggio Emilia in 1961 but he substitued the ill Di Stefano in 1963 in Covent Garden!

  • Regardless the brilliant execution, this is not the version of 1964 since in there he is accompanied by piano only but the sound track has got an orchestra playing... who edited this?

  • @giuseppecalafiore I just took the video and tried to sychronize the audio recording if his 1964 almbum! The audio is really from 1964 but in studio!

  • Pavarotti - I thought you were immortal, and yet you died as a mortal. The voice lives forever - the creme de la creme. Thank you now and forever.

  • 8 people like justin beiber.

  • I need to see this video with the original sound even if the quality is lower..Preferirei vedere il video con l'audio originale anche se meno buono di qualità.

  • Mi piace tantissimo ma questo registrazione lui fatto piu tardi in 1982 in Italia

  • Si alguien conoce algo mejor que esto, por favor avíseme.

  • @maseratiquattroport I do agree as far as the music following the tenor,asPavarotti did not read music&the orchestra or piano accompaniment very often followedHim.We know that LP had squillo&carrying powerAs I noticed the synchronization of the video & audio are off,I would like to think that there were other technology problems here.I think we or I at least, are accustom to hearing the overblown&enhanced recordings of the last 25 years or so which are not realistic upon hearing the artists Live

  • @sugarbist

both. i understand what you mean though. yes, they were many tenors and even sopranos defaulted their powerful voice when live but, this video tells me that they were following the tenor & not accordingly to the music note. So, he did not hold it long enough for the actual. NOw, for my personal taste, he failed to provide lasting squillo & carrying power and cut off the six second high 'c' that everybody was waiting for. BAsically put, it lacked the completeness.

  • @maseratiquattroport Did Pavarotti not hold the note long enough for your personal taste or according to the music?Pavarotti's voice had squillo&the carrying POWER in the theater was as good or better than any other lyric tenor that is appropriate for this aria. Many tenors sound powerful&enjoyable on recordings. However their voices do not carry as well in the theater.BarryMorell,FlavianoLebo& even Domingo are examples of tenors that sound more powerful on recordings than they did in the theater.

  • when is young, and old ,,,perform always BEST !!! AMAZING !!! SUPERB !! SERIOSA MAESTRO !

  • che meraviglia. Thanks for Pavarotti
