Strapped a camera to my head to take pictures every 2 seconds so that I can make this time lapse video. Have 3,716 total photos and used about 1,500 in this vid. Nothing like seeing race course on actual race day. Chicago's just a very beautiful city.
Anyhow, I didn't know what to expect for this race. The day before, I started feeling a little sick. I spent the entire day resting, hydrating, and hoping I would fully recover on race day. Lo and behold, I could barely sleep that night due to a really stuffy nose. I probably finally fell asleep around midnight, kept on waking up around 2:30, fell asleep again, woke up again, and decided there's no point in sleeping anymore. I definitely was not feeling good. Nose was runny, kept on sneezing, and spitting out phlegm. I officially had a cold. I had a choice to not race, but having to work a 10-day work week to get this weekend off, I didn't want to miss this day just because of a cold. I figured I can quit if I couldn't really take it in the middle of the course anyway.
I decided to use the camera so that I can keep my head up. In case I feel fatigued, it somehow reminds me I have to keep my head up because I can't accept taking pictures of concrete. It did manage to take sharp pictures w/ favorable lighting conditions. Blurry shots are unavoidable dark areas especially when the rain clouds rolled in. Some raindrops didn't slide off the lens despite the hydrophobic solution I applied on it. You can see some rain drops on some pictures in this vid.
Weather was favorable for this race. Not hot, not humid, and cool enough so that people don't overheat. I was in the starting line about 12 mins after the starting gun went off. I tried keeping my normal pace. I could feel my heart rate was too high. I had a hard time breathing. All throughout the race I was sneezing, coughing, and spitting phlegm. Don't worry, none of those can be seen in this video. I managed to catch up w/ the 2:00 pace group. I forced myself to just keep up and I will surely finish less than 1:50. Great. But my body wasn't so cooperative. I had to throw time goals away, have fun, and keep myself together so that I can take good pictures. My time was good enough. Finished under 2:00.
I hope you enjoy this video. I can say I did put in some hard work to come up with this. Until next time.
i was totally there :DDD
