Two days later in the championship game against North Carolina State with Jim Valvano coaching, Benny Anders came within fingertips of recreating his dunk to win the championship. We all no what happened instead.

A tourney classic. So much talent on the floor in the 1980's NCAA's - the days before "one and done". Awesome crowd noise too thanks to the game being played in "The Pit" - a real basketball venue and not a cavernous dome. I don't miss Billy "I invented college b-ball" Packer though.

Man, I remember this game, like it was yesterday. Even though UH lost the championship game to NC St on a last second dunk ( how ironic) this was one of the greatest teams in NCAA History with the mosr appropiate nickname ever. Long live the legend of "PHI SLAMMA JAMMA"!

Shocking display of basketball talent for the college level. Phi Slamma Jamma was greatest team to never win a championship. Sorry Fab 5. But that was a VERY talented and athletic team in Louisville that they did that to.

@RaffettoSpeaks its how its always been with Houston teams.....always had great winning teams in the fast..Historic teams of every sport....but thats all were allowed to have........just like the 98 Astros, 79 Oilers and Phi slamma jamma. thats how special the 94/95 Houston Rockets were!
