Systemic sclerosis (scleroderma) can cause swelling, thickening and hardening of the fingers and/or toes. They may eventually become frozen into an immovable claw, which is called sclerodactyly. Sclero means hard, and dactyly means fingers or toes. Presented by Amanda Thorpe for the nonprofit International Scleroderma Network at sclero.org.
