This was my father-daughter wedding dance. My dad and I love watching The Godfather movies. As a kid I told him that when I marry, him and I will be dancing to this song. :)

Kay knew a side of Michael that his family didn't know about, with the exception of his father, who actually wanted the same for Michael as Kay did and was probably the only one who completely approved of her. Kay didn't understand Michael's role in his family though, something Appolonia wouldn't have any trouble with. The only thing they had in common was that they loved him and he loved them, simple as that.

I remember a very nice scene in god father II when DeNIRO gives a simple fruit to his wife as a gift. She's so happy to see this beautiful fruit as if it was the greatest gift she received! And a few times later, he give her the famous carpett robbed by clemenza. Because she's italian and trust in his husband, she never speaks with him about his affairs. NEVER. Men's affairs are not women's affair. She asks no questions! Appolonia would be like that and Mickael'destiny should be different.

@josselinco There is a beautiful, (so beautiful!) scene in godfather II when Mickael discuss with his mother. The mama is absolutely beautiful at that moment, sat near the fireplace, and who don't understand what Mikael says about the lost of "the familia". Mama replied: "But you can't lost your family! Never!"/ But Mickael simply say: Times are differents!.It's so terrible cause he don't listen his mother, and kills fredo. It's a great sacrilege. For sure, with Apollonia, he 'll never do that.

@verobinful Exactly! :) Apollonia's death, and the humongous grievance and resentment it creates in Michael, might be for sure the starting point of his life as the movie depicts it. I guess this is why the Love Theme is such an important part of the soundtrack, so much that it's song everybody refers to as the Godfather theme.

His father married an italian. And all his life was ok with his wife. A sicilian must married an italian like Apollonia. So, it's terrible when she died. She was the perfect woman for him. like his mother was the perfect wife for his father. An american girl like "Key" understand nothing about Mickael's character.
