Sound lovely to a native.

No matter how you slice it...this is a classic. This hula and the concept behind it is perfect. Dennis Kamakahi once told me that today's Kumu Hula should be doing things that speak of today, because today's hula will be the classics of tomorrow. Patrick Makuakane and the dancers of his halau are the perfect example of what Uncle Dennis was referring too.

Hula is so beautiful, it should not be confined to any certain location. I start my first class at the end of the month & cant wait until I can hula to this song!

Wouldn't hula dancers be more appropriate for a Hawaiian beach or surf song?

"Wouldn't hula dancers be more appropriate for a Hawaiian beach or surf song?" No. No more so than paintings being restricted to museums. Hula is a physical and visual interpretation of the song's lyrics. The dancers are acting out, in a beautifully graceful way, the words of the song. Inappropriate would be for the dancers to act out the words of "Chicago" or "New York, New York" against a San Francisco background. By the way, this was a Union Bank TV commercial. Thank you, Union Bank!
