María Barrientos fue una cantante excepcional. Es una lástima que la mayoría de sus grabaciones conocidas hayan sido en el método acústico, incluso, cuando éste no se había desarrollado bien.
La única biografía que conozco de ella es la de wikipedia y las fotos han sidos buscadas pacientemente en la web.
Me gustaría saber si existe algún buen libro, en Inglés o en Español, con buenas fotografías y una biografía mas extensa.
Me parece que el hecho de que haya fijado su residencia en Francia, cerca a Cataluña, tuvo algo que ver con la guerra civil española.

Maria Barrientos was an outstanding singer. It is a pity that most of her recordings have been made in the acoustic method, even when it had not developed well.
The only biography of her I know it is that from wikipedia. The photos have patiently searched on the web and improved by me in photoshop.
I wonder if there is a good book, in English or Spanish, with good pictures and a more extensive biography.
I think the fact that she has taken up residence in France, close to Catalunya, had something to see with the Spanish civil war.

I think I prefer Maria Barrientos' singing of lyrical music even more than her coloratura flights. The voice itself is lovely and has that rare chiaroscuro quality, rarer still for a leggiero soprano. I like this performance very much. Other favorites include those of Bidu Sayao and Marcella Sembrich. Thanks for posting!
