Hey y'all! There ain't nothing new this time, I simply played the little tunes I know and sang along with it. I just picked what I already know and memorized of the new song I've been working on, "Doin' My Time". Besides that, there ain't nothing new there.
Yes, I am deeply sorry, my voice is no good for singing, I suck at it, big time. I am aware, don't need to tell me about it. But hey, I wanna sing too! This ain't no American Idol, right? That's the cool thing about mountain music, you don't need to have an amazing, outstanding, perfect voice, you just sing it, dammit! I have no interest in becoming famous, even if it was possible, I like the simple life and God in heaven knows how I love privacy and how I'd hate being famous. I sing while I play because I am happy, that's all! Why I upload it to Youtube then, if my voice sucks and I don't have enough talent or experience on the banjo? Well, I have friends here and I like to share it with them. Also, even my grandparents like to come here and check how is my progress (they are basically the only family I have and they live very far). That's all.
I will have new material here soon. I am FINALLY going to order the follow up book this Thursday. Meanwhile, I'll be working on Doin' My Time.
As usual, to the scumbag community out here, it's my video, my rules. Profanities will be rejected. Arguments, worthless crap, bitching over the Confederate flag, offensive stuff, towards me or others, well, bullcrap in general, will be rejected and you will be blocked. I have no time for this crap anymore, seriously.
Experienced or beginner banjo players: YES, you are welcome if you want to give me a critic, a tip, an advice, or anything that will help me to improve, please, do not hesitate, share your knowledge with me, I will appreciate it very much. As long as it is a critic that will help me and it has a point, it will be welcome!!! Critics that lead nowhere, such as "you suck", fall into the bullcrap category and will be rejected.
By the way, those cases are rare. If your comment does not get approved right away, no need to post another one, I will approve as soon as I log in again. Sorry for the inconvenience, it's just that work a lot and sometimes I am too tired to log in or my laptop doesn't pick a signal, I rely on wireless. It will be approved, don't worry.
Thanks for stopping by and may God bless each one of you.

@jc091393 Thanks! My advice to you is go out there and get a banjo right away, and get started! Best thing I ever did. Right now on eBay, there's a Washburn B9 for $149, very budget banjo, but it will get you started! Check with your local music store as well. Get a cheap one, then if it's your thing and it gets serious, get something a little more professional, with a tone ring for about $400 or so. Geoff Hohwald's book Banjo Primer and DVD Introduction to 5 string banjo are good to learn too.

I usually just play and never bothered to sing. Your videos are now encouraging me to at least learn to sing the words as I play along with the banjo. I play Cumberland Gap and Cripple Creek pretty well now. After the Beverly Hillbillies song, I want to try Doin My Time by Flatt and Scruggs. I know the words to that song.
Be well,
Myra from up yonder.

@Myra1959 Howdy, Myra! I'm glad I was able to encourage you to sing! I don't have the voice for it, but never mind that, anybody can sing and have fun, so yeah, you should go for it, girl! I have always wanted to sing Doing My Time, just about grew up listening to that song, but unfortunately I just know a very short version that is not enough for me to sing, otherwise, I sure would! I love that song, please, let me know when ya get it going! Keep on a-pickin', Myra! :)

@MSfeller I am getting there with the first verse on the Beverly Hillbillies song. It's funny how I grew up with show and the theme song for almost fifty years, but still get stomped when I try to sing along with the banjo.

@Myra1959 Oh, I'm glad to hear! Yeah, I hear ya, I grew up listening to Handsome Molly, and it was the first song I decided to try to sing along with while I picked, and it was very, very hard in the beginning! But once you get used to it, it goes smoothly and it's the same procedure for every song. You keep on a pickin', Myra, before you know, you'll be singing it. When I picked for some folks in England, and the Beverly Hillbillies was re-requested 3 times, everybody loves the tune and singing

@nutcase4freedom Lol, that is quite a compliment! You know, they say there's no chin under MSfeller's beard, only another banjo. :)
