This is a promo / trailer for our documentary in pre-production. It was cut when the project was known as 'The Lives Of Thomas Beck'.

BACK-STORY:
In 1944, 437,300 Jewish citizens were delivered to the Nazis by the Hungarian Arrow Cross. But before deportation Thomas escaped an internment camp.

Suddenly he was lost and very much alone in the country which had been his home, but where now his very presence was illegal.

For the next year he was a fugitive, carefully keeping his identity secret but constantly in peril. He witnessed bloody murder and execution, found himself shoulder to shoulder with fascists and Nazis - and found decent people, ready to hide him at great risk to themselves.

His only plan was to reach the fighting, and throw himself on the mercy of the Russians. So he headed for the front, coming ever closer to the feroicous air-raids and street-fighting. When he reached a Nazi controlled city under siege from the Allies, he felt he'd finally reached safety. But still in store were the greatest betrayals, horrors and dangers yet.

A moving, inspiring - and absolutely gripping eyewitnss account of war in Europe. This year Thomas returns to Hungary & Slovakia to retrace his footsteps and tell the story in a documentary road-movie.

This is an absolutely independent project produced and directed by Sam Lawlor & Lindsay Pollock with an original soundtrack by Felix Martin & Al Doyle (Hot Chip / EMI)
