The most historic match in California State history. Senior Palomino was attempting to become the first four-time state champ in CA. Vasquez, a junior at the time, was looking to stop him so he could be the first four timer the following year

  • there's a great feature about this match in 'amateur wrestling news.'

  • Too bad it can only be 6 minutes. Epic match

  • @jimenezr34 119

  • 3x state champ Matt Ciasulli from Easton,Pa whooped Vazquez around like a ragdoll when he beat him 15-5 in 2002

  • @GangzxtaD Yeah, but I doubt very much that was WHY he changed weights; wrestlers--all of em, try to get down to the lowest weight they can and still be strong. Far from doing something wrong, he knew he would be taking on a great opponent, and stood up to the challenge.

  • That guy got yolked who stood up at 1:28...

  • @jimenezr34 i think it was 19's? it says it on the score thing that gets flashed to over the course of the match.

  • didnt vazquez change weights just to stop palomino from becoming the four time state champ? if so he is a douchebag lol what if he would have got injured/lost his senior year lol

  • I love that there's finally video out there of this match, I've always wanted to see it. Probably the most thrilling 0-0 match I've ever seen, and wouldn't you know it, the wrestler trying to become the first 4X CA state champ ultimately loses on a freshman mistake (locking hands). But Vasquez earned it, he was undoubtably the aggressor throughout. Great match!

  • any one know the weight class?
