Don't think any running on the pitch was intentional at all...The commentator makes a very valid point...if you play a drive or any front foot stroke, your more than like to continue running forward for a few steps as that is the way your weight has been transferred through your shot.....i think the umpires we're be overcautious.....however it is good to see them ensuring the condition of the pitch.....It's so sad how poorly informed so many indians are about Australia and its people.
