Jumper's knee is an injury that affects the tendon connecting your kneecap (patella) to your shinbone. The patellar tendon plays a pivotal role in the way you use your legs. It helps your muscles extend your lower leg so that you can kick a ball, push the pedals on your bicycle, and jump up in the air. Learn about the different causes of, symptoms of, and treatments for jumper's knee in this video.

  • @KoGCompton i still had pain but it was very mild, it was so mild it really didn't really affect my playing or it didn't hurt enough for me to stop playing or take pain killers, i only get the mild pain if i put my knee in a very very uncomfortable position.

  • @raemuel9323 iv been doing what you told me and its help out alot iv been doing the work outs in the Jump Training Exercises Jumper's Knee but when you knee fully healed did you have any pain or anything after? or was it like you never had jumper's knee?

  • @KoGCompton dude i had the same problem i hurt it as i was playing basketball, you should rest it for awhile, maybe for a week or two, stretch your quads before and after you play basketball, try to apply some ice after you play aswell but most important of all is that you should wear a support while you play if you follow this it will recover, this information was gained from experience i hope this helps you :)

  • I have jumper's knee for about 3 to 4 years already. It protrudes when i straighten my leg. I only experience pain when pressure is applied to it. I can't even kneel properly as i experience pain when the protruding part touches the floor. Would ice and rest cure it?

  • idk what i have id say a 3 i got jumpers knee in both my knee's playing basketball i think the main reason i got it is because im too heavy but its hurts at the bottom of my knee and when i keep my knees bent for awhile it starts to hurt and it pops when i straighten them out and its hard going down stair. when i stay off my knee for like a day they wont hurt but i try to get out so like after my activities they hurt im weird if my knees will always be this way or will they make a ful recovery

  • @Brandon12K

I would say you're between 3 and 4..(I assume you have pain during the activity). I'm having pain when a walk for more then 20 minutes.. It's starting to get serious I think... :S

  • If it hurts when I walk down stairs and when i have it bent for long periods of time does that mean it is type four?

  • i dont know if you have jumpers knee . The best thing you can do is to go to an othopedist and making sure what s wrong with your knee .

For example in my case, my meniskus was torn and this lead to problems with the patella, you see one injury leads to bigger injuries

  • @flyingmover you mean I have to rest :P?

and after that will I be able to do parkour or stuff like that?

  • @kallostomika you really have to be careful. If you have jumpers knee you have to avoid sports like parkour because it leads to higher injuries. I also have problems with the patella especially and the injury was caused by parkour too, so dude take care of your knees
