In 1956, Elvis' favorite band was The Collins Kids. Larry and Lorrie were the proto-genesis of "coming of age" rock and roll. Puberty! Brilliant spunky, punky rockabilly songs like Hot Rod, Soda Poppin' Around, coupled with Lorrie's sex appeal and knack for singing romantic lyrics written for men, she was the first female rock star. Larry influenced Jimmy Page the most. Larry even wore flames on his pants. Larry was Vegas before Elvis, and his physicality with the guitar influenced Hendrix.

I had the good fortune of meeting Larrie & Lorrie Collins a few years ago in Spain, and seeing them play live, nothing of the energy was lost, 50 years on!
