Spelunky! Defeating Shopkeeper with Pistol

This is the method I've found to be able to defeat the Weapons Shopkeepers when their shop does not spawn a shotgun. Be advised that this method is subject to the luck of where the shopkeeper's body bounces and whether you can time the shots correctly so that he does not pick up his dropped shotgun again.

if you repeatedly shoot the shopkeeper, you can kill him with the pistol

@FireJigglypuff2310 It didn't use to be this way (say, prior to v.98) when the gravity and collision rules were tweaked a little bit; but you'll just have to trust me on that- considering I died a considerable amount of times just mashing on the pistol because before the shopkeeper would immediately pickup his lost shotgun after falling and make a instant quickdraw. Nice, but would have been easier using the web gun. Just shoot once and immediately jump on top of the shopkeeper.

Does the pistol have unlimited ammo? This game is amazingly fun, and this is a very cool and fun thing to do, robbing the shops. Haha.

I'm preferential to bombing the shop, but yours is a great cave offensive, nonetheless!

I usually just unleash hell on a shopkeeper if I have a pistol on hand. Most of the time it works, lol xD

This, however, is a very good strategy. :D
