  • word4word quote from video: "so before you start practice, before you move in your speed agility things, it's always nice, the more you stretch your arm, the better you gonna be" then you proceeded to assist in stretching guy's arm far beyond he can pull arm himself...

I was looking for dynamic shoulder warmup routing and stumble on static assisted arm stretching for 15-20sec 2-3 sets? and was done before actual drills? it goes against everything I knew or experienced myself

  • @theburin I'm not understanding your question or concern here. This video is a dynamic warm up for baseball players. During the video we are working to get the entire body loose. We warm up the lower half and core though an array of dynamic movements. During this training session we are not throwing the baseball so it is a good idea to do some extra stretching to ensure arm safety. Arm stretches should also be done before throwing. If you never stretch your shoulder you will hurt yourself.

  • @theburin as for the "the more you stretch the better you are going to be" simply means the better off you will be to prevent injury. If you allow your should to become tight, pain is right around the corner. So YES stretch your shoulder.

  • @theburin be sure if you send my credible research to make it specific to baseball players who are tight from throwing.

  • I thought it was common knowledge by now that "as little as 2 minutes of static stretching per muscle group can impair power performance" just google effect of stretching on performance.

plus I personally can feel lack of power after any good 30sec stretch hold, static stretching is good, but only as cooldown maybe, and increase of ROM

  • @theburin most articles you read on google have no research to back them up. I would be more than happy to read over any credible sources you may have. You must stretch your shoulder to prevent injury. It is as simple as that. All baseball players overuse their arms. Lactic acid and small tears throughout the shoulder produce tightness. Without stretching an overused arm, you will be more prone to injury. This will be my last response. I hope this helps.

  • @theburin during my college experience being a pitcher and working with many upper level athletes static stretches such as this for your shoulder are a must when throwing. Overuse causes tension and must be worked out to prevent injury. Yes a warm up can help increase range of motion, but overuse will occur and without stretching the shoulder, will be more prone to injury. Over stretching will decrease performance pre-performance but a tight shoulder must be stretched.

  • @theburin can you back that up with data?

  • btw arm static stretches like that reduce performance up to 30% and can last for an hour or more...
