The reason I had to wear spandex underneath was the night of the performance my high school principle was backstage and saw my costume. because it was for the talent portion or our school pageant and it was a school event she informed me that if i did not wear anything underneath i wouldnt be able to perform. i feel really bad about it. never performed again for schools.

@beautyconcious Aloha! There is NOTHING gay about Hula Kahiko Kane, or about the dancer. The screaming wahini should have been stopped. The principle showed a terrible amont of ignorance and predjudice. Hence the insults to the dancer, the dance, chant and culture in gereral, the crowd's rudeness reflects it. I honor Josh's decision not to use this venue again. I am "haole" but I agree, we Americans in general are very disrespectful Aloha'oe. Mahalo nui loa. Pomaika'i Josh!

@kelii777 It has nothing to do with the haoles undermining traditional Hawaiian culture, it's to do with uptight school principals and school boards - causcasian, African-American and Latino included - being embarassed by bodies and suggestions of sexuality.
