Unfortunately, the "Public Will" is more interested with handing out trillions each year to those less fortunate souls whose only purpose is making a full-time career of sticking their hand out for the next government freebie (with no contributions to society in return), rather than applying themselves through educational opportunities and actual hard work. No wonder NASA's budget of 1/6 of one cent of one tax dollar ($57.10/yr, $1.25/wk, $0.18/day) is wrongly perceived as "too expensive."
Terribly good point.
I heard that the Air Force also has a space program which has at least double the funding of NASA. I've never researched it, though.
