This is a little experiment I'm working on. It is an implementation of 2D ray tracing in an environment with two-dimensional obstacles. It took me about two hours to make the program, thanks to built-in functions in java. I'm not entirely sure what this could be used for, but I have some ideas of a 2D exploration game, or possibly some combat game where your sight is limited by obstacles, so that you can hide from your enemy.
If you have any ideas of how to develop this technology, please share them!
The music is a work in progress on a new song by me, a cover of "Från och med du" by Oskar Linnros. You'll hear more of it when I release it, so subscribe if you don't wanna miss it :)
Check out my website http://www.robinerd.com to see more of my music and different programming projects.
Also, if you like what I do, please 'like' robinerd on facebook - I write all news there, and there are also several tutorials on how to make pixel art, chiptunes and other interesting reading.
That's really great! Would you share the code?

Now that is cool. Maybe you could make it like some kind of puzzle game.

@rusty5707 thanks!! I'm thinking of making some puzzle/arcade game where you move the mouse and are not allowed to touch the walls. There are lots of that kind of games out there, but I think this viewport effect in combination with more artistic design (like a little white mouse running around in a dangerous machinery) will give it a really nice dungeon-exploration feeling :)
