"The father of Smooth Jazz", Tom Grant performs his song "Never Say Never" live in Japan.
TOM GRANT, master instrumentalist, talented singer and natural entertainernimbly walks the line between jazz tradition and modern pop. This soft-spoken Oregon native's inspired songwriting produces propulsive R&B grooves, infectious melodic hooks, and stylish ballads with equal ease. He plays jazz piano with the harmonic sophistication and deep sense of swing that only comes from more than three decades on the bandstand. At the same time, his recordings have consistently landed at the top of the New Adult Contemporary (NAC)/Smooth Jazz charts, a genre of music Tom helped pioneer in the mid-80s.

When contemporary jazz was at its peak in the 80's and early 90's (before it became watered-down smooth jazz), Tom Grant stood among the top artists in producing memorable and well-crafted songs.

Tom,if you ever read this, you rule buddy, you're the main reason I took up learning pop/jazz/smooth jazz piano about 10 years ago, I used to listen to Just The Right Moment, Night Charade, Mango Tango, and Edge of the World when I was in high school. I even had an Edge of the World poster on my dorm room wall in college. You're my main influence and my ultimate goal is to be able to play the way you do, but I wouldn't worry, I doubt I will be any competition for you ever.

Hey Tom, this video is excellent! Can't wait for Aaron to bring you back to Japan. I first saw you live in the late '70s when you were playing for the Miss Oregon pageant in Seaside. My family and I have been *huge fans* of yours since those days; saw you at Mt. Hood, etc.
Your sound is so perfect for Japan. Please come back soon!

Seeing Tom Grant and his group play is our absolute FAVORITE thing to do in Hood River, Oregon. We schedule
our vacations around Tom's schedule in order to take in his show.
