@asvoth The UN has no right to try to govern the US .Everybody has the right to access to Health care no matter if they can pay it or not .The Gov forcing me to buy it,taking my taxes to buy it ,making me pay for someone elses that is not a right .That is socialisim it wont happen here .As far as the UN goes they can ALL go to Hell with a quickness ,we dont want them here anyway. They also give human rights abusers seats on the HR commissions

There is no right to medical care in the US Constitution. And there sure as hell is no authority for the federal government to mandate Americans to buy health insurance. If you want healthcare then save your money. Paul helps you do this by advocates the lowest taxes and state rights. Many people claim Paul is not compassionate. The opposite is true. Paul is a defender of life and the liberty to take care of yourself. Only the irresponsible criticize Ron Paul on his constitutional beliefs.

You can say 'you have right to whatever' because talk is cheap. It doesn't change the fact, that there is a price to pay. Free market makes the price to go down. False sense of security "market" drives the price up. Everyone has access to the well but there is no water.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations in 1948, proclaimed that "everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of oneself and one's family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care."

@nexus1g and what is the most unfortunate aspect of universal healthcare in Canada, is you have an entire population at the mercy of government, to the point where no matter what our politicians do, no one protests out of fear that they we may somehow lose our medicare and the countless other social programs our govt runs. That is not freedom....freedom is having the ability to keep the fruits of your labor, and letting competition for your $ to drive innovation, and prices down.
-
@nexus1g I honestly don't think you pay anything close in taxes that us Candians do. Besides paying 35-40% income tax, we have outrageous property tax, liqour tax (26oz of vodka is $30!...a 12 pack of beer is $20), it cost $100 a year to have your vehicle plated, etc....it's insane. All the while medicare is crumbling before our eyes. i'm not saying that you have it better, I'm just noting that what Ron is saying is the truth behind what happens to prices with govt involvement.

@dulkin316 Health care being a privilege fails when hard-working, responsible people are being laid off left and right. Then when they get a job, they have to work there for 3-6 months before they're eligible for health care again and then will have a 6-month waiting period for preexisting conditions. This is why health care as a privilege fails. In an ideal world, that concept could work, but we are definitely not living in an ideal world.
-
@moosh27 Well, here in America if you get laid off and you or someone in your family needs a surgery, you have to wait 6 months to get treated for a preexisting condition once you're eligible for insurance again (which usually totals to be a year or more later). Waiting months doesn't seem so bad. And when I call to make an appointment with my doctor, I sometimes have to schedule a month out. And we don't pay that much less in taxes.

@MrScar7X Your not getting it, health care is a privledge not a right. Why does anyone have a right to take tax dollars from people that pay taxes so that they can get health care? In the US were guaranteed our right to life and property and thats how it should be.
I am a Canadian, who's lived in Canada my entire life....you Americans need to LISTEN TO THIS MAN!! EVERYTHING he says about government and healthcare is TRUE!!! We here in Canada do not have to pay for medicare directly...but we pay dearly in other ways...we wait MONTHS for desperately needed operations...we waith 6+ hours to see a doctor...our taxes are over 35% for the average earner, 45+% for high earners (on top of 13% sales taxes)...let the market work, get govt out, and you will win.

@kakahass Yes the wright brothers were only able to complete their jobs after they got a government grant and afterwards planes were manufactured by the USAF. World class medical facilities and treatments are developed in medical schools in america like Johns Hopkins, Harvard, Yale etc whose research is entirely state funded (NIH, NSF etc). Look into the origins of silicon valley, it was the center of naval, air force and NASA research. The dynamacy of technological innovation comes from the MIC
