  • Actually the clicker can be used as reinforcement for a good behavior. The click represents that the animal did the correct action and will get a treat. It is a lot quicker to begin training an animal with a clicker, because you cross the barrier of understanding and it makes more sense to the animal. Then they can understand that the noise to mean that they did good.

  • Not to mention that the click is instantaneous, whereas a treat or praise would come after the action. The clicker helps the cat identify EXACTLY what it was that got him the treat.

  • @evanescenceroxs you can use it both ways, but mostly with cats. Dogs are not as tolerant to punishment by their owners as cats are.
