  • exualmet - Sorry you didn't enjoy this. However, it's a TRIBUTE, not a replacement. Lyle was not trying to take anything away from Brian and Carl but was honoring them by doing this song.

  • @coolsweetgroovy you got that right Melinda does look like a wax figure with her devil red lips.i added a post myself.im glad some one else sees it like i do.she was just a car sales person who Landy introduced them hmmm sound like Brians being taken again where Landy finished.

  • TOO SHORT! Haw Lyle pleaaase you could've just done 10 minutes of this and we'd love it :'(

  • Rip the audio from this tune at tubepull doht cohm.

  • @hoppercap You don't get to say Brian is wrong! You can only disagree (as I do--for me, Lyle doesn't touch Carl or Brian singing this song).

  • Ridiculous criticism of Melinda! They married several years after they met; and she was against Landy just like the rest of the family. How many women would take on Brian's mental issues, no matter how much money he had? To this day, he hears voices in his head telling him he's no good and that they're going to kill him. Melinda said she could look at him and tell he was hearing voices. They have adopted several children together; Brian is happy and touring; and he thanks her for it.

  • When asked about Lyle's performance in an interview, Brian Wilson said, "I thought Lyle Lovett's version was the best version I ever heard, including the Beach Boys'. The most loving beautiful version I've ever heard. Unbelievable."

When I watch this, I feel like Lyle is singing the song to Brian. Any pop singer since the mid-60s could honestly sing to Brian Wilson, "God only knows what I'd be without you."

  • Pretty amazing to see one great honoring another great
