  • Jesus did it. THE END.

  • Well that's all the proof I need! TIME TO CONVERT!

  • You say that you would be equally pleased whether we have "free will" or not. But do you understand what "free will" is? Can you define it?

  • I would define free will as "The ability to carry out an action without any outside forces of coercion or control"

However, in this way, through cause and effect, we are controlled through a cause and effect scenario, therefore precluding free will.

  • Jesus IS definitely the end of scientific inquiry, rofl.

  • I would actually point out that every religion with an omniscient God that also created the universe, has precluded Free Will. But that's a subject for another video.

  • And there is John Calvin, Schopenhauer, Einstein, etc.. I think even Buddha.

Not to mention Romans 9 in the bible sounds a bit deterministicy.

  • A very good point to be made. The Atomists were very interesting. It's funny that they were considered crazy people.

As far as Free Will being refuted. I think the Vikings were highly skeptical of Free Will, believing firmly in Destiny.

  • The choice of choosing left or right was performed experimentally by John Dylan-Haynes and colleagues. Time-delay of awareness of choice was measured with predictability rising above chance up to 10s prior. That is, experimenters could predict the choice of a subject before the subject was aware of their own choice.

That says it all to me. But I wanted to mention Atomists like Democritus who denied Free-Will around 600 BC. The philosophy probably dates even older.
