On April 14th I departed with an A340-300 belonging to Olympic Airlines. The Flight was from Toronto to Athens via Montreal.
After traveling for one day in Athens, I continued my journey home to Israel. In this film we landed in Athens: ILS approach for RWY03L.

  • how bout you come say that to my face asshole!! its a free country bitch!! now fuck yourself.

  • fuck off man and stop dissing greece u dumbass! go fuck your mama and shut it

  • ahh... are you greek? well i remember waking up right before landing @ ellinikon, and all i saw was beautiful sea + coastline... but the new airport from the video (and FSX LOL) looked nothing like it.

  • to jesuistahmid cont'd: You know the funny thing was i bet you anything Athens and Greece had a lot more tourists and exposure in the glory days of Hellinikon's operation than this new piece of filth could ever draw. Sorry i just hate the new Athens Airport. Greece tries to hard to fit in to Western Europe when it's not meant for such a rapid lifestyle.

  • not only was it more beautiful, but it represented a Greece that was pure and wholesome. A Greece and an Athens, that wasn't so modernized, uptight and disrespectful. There was JFK, Heathrow, Schiphol, Charles De Gaulle, and then there was little tiny Hellenikon. Those monster airports suited the busy and hectic lifestyles and modern societies of its creators. Greece was forced to modernize to quickly prove to the world that it had caught up to the 21st century.

  • agreed... I remember that the airport back then was much more beautiful to look at.

  • They stopped using it on March 28,2001, and it was called Hellenikon. There were 2 terminals one called the East ( for international flight) and one called the West( for Olympic and other domestic carriers). I liked it much better than this new piece of garbage. Reminded me of a happier time in my life.

  • when did they stop using the older airport? and what was its name? Because I remember going to Athens back in 2000 and the airport seems a bit different.

  • I don't know this airport sucks it has no charm. It's typical cold ass German styling. The old airport was a lot more fun to land in. The approach was mesmerizing. The mountains and rooftops on one side, and the sea and oil tankers on the other. You felt like you were landing in Greece not some Northern European country. This airport does not suit the landscape of Greece. Sure its functional, safer and more modern, but it just sucks. Its just one big boring white box.

  • Hah! I just cross-checked it and.. I was on that same flight!! And judging from your camera position, I was seated not far from you (I keep all my boarding passes).
