It's easy to understand why young peeps prefer Lea: she adds a modern touch to the song and kids like the stuff they're used to. Barbara is an outstanding performer, but it feels "old" to the new generations. I like both - and I'm not a huge fan of Lea Michele - as both singers are extremely talented. On another note, it's also possible that they like Lea's better because it's the first one they heard. In my personal experience, I like covers better when I didn't know the originals first.

Seriously, can't anybody else see how great glee/Lea is? Do you honestly think that the next generation of teenagers would sit down and watch old musicals or look up Barbra? No. But thanks to glee and Lea, they are interested and are finding amazing inspiration from her.

It's what technically is keeping the music in the many years to come from being forgotten.. She should never be forgotten and she could never get replaced.

Barbra is and always will be one of my idols and she's just untouchable.

There is no other to date can sing a new/old song as Barbra. That is why she's considered a "Great" singer by music composers, arrangers and record producers, just to name a few. Her voice has a wider spread of octaves and to compare Lea Michele to Barbra is really not fair to either singers. I've listened to Lea, who by the way is one of Barbra's fans, is a good singer and I commend Lea in doing the song in her own style. When one really loves music they don't stick to only one genre.

Oh please stop it. Ms Michele and Ms Streisand are actually VERY DIFFERENT! singers. Ms Streisand is more classical in the use of her voice as defined by her era of reign. Lea Michele has the voice of THIS generation- we use very different techniques and have different voice trends. They're both amazing. Please also note that Ms Michele's voice is very heavily edited on Glee to make her sound younger. It isn't a fair representation at all.

Guys Lea is 24(or 25? I dont know.) Yes Lea is not Barbra, but give Lea a fuckin Chance. She was at her Performance really Nervous.

She deverse it to sing this. Barba would be proud of such a person like Lea and impressed to hear her Voice.

Barbra does this best. Lea is good but she doesn't have Barbra's depth, energy and pizzazz. It's not just a matter of vocal range and power. It's all about magic, chutzpah and aplomb. Barbra is simply awesome and phenomenal, An original that can never be replicated.
