The interactive KENOEFF-LZFILM-coproduction:
One late afternoon in Toledo (Another scene from CHERCHEZ LA CAM)
Toledo was for a long time the capital of the country that we call Spain nowadays. Founded by Celtiberians, Romans conquered the city and called it Toletum. Several centuries later, the Visigoths arrived and made the city to their royal court. In 711, the Moors took the city, and under their reign, it became famous because of the Toledo translation school where scientific, philosophical and religious texts in Hebrew, Greek, Latin or Arabic were translated. After the Reconquista by the Christians, the school remained in service for some time, and the city became the royal court for the kings of Castile and Leon. In 1563, the court was removed to Madrid, and the decay of this city that respires history in every corner began. You can still find a lot of Roman ruins, Moorish arches, ancient mosques and synagogues there. It is truly a city with a unique atmosphere.
The characters of CHERCHEZ LA CAM are walking through the city, apparently without any aim, and try to localize themselves on a map, but Toledo's labyrinthine lanes seem to counteract this. Ferd Geisler's lyrics give the whole scene an ironical aspect, as if there was waiting someone for these tourists who obviously don't want to go home. Thank you very much for the permission to use your song, Ferd!

  • Nice collaboration!

    I like this a lot!

    saludos!
