i visit my dad there every two weeks in the summer. that damn smoke gave me a cold

usually i would say that fires are absolute bad news, but there are other things that changed my mind.

1. it's a natural occurrence. it's happened before humans, it's happening in the age of humans

2. forest fires actually help the forest. by burning out the dead trees, it gives new ones the chance to grow and replace the ones lost

3. on the artistic note, watching flames at night kind of inspires my artwork. but that's just me

yep this one may be burning for a while, lots of dead beetle kill trees up there. Heck lots of dead beetle kill trees all over Colorado. Sorry for all the homes lost, but that should be no surprise when you build a house in the middle of a forest.

Guys, unless I'm mistaken none of you are evacuees waiting to find out whether your life up to this point has or will be destroyed. None of you have spent the last 96 hours fighting this fire, so none of you really understand what is going on. I'm guessing you are all sitting comfortably at home. It doesn't matter at all whether or not this fire is "normal." Take a moment and realize you are lucky, and send your good will/prayers/whatever to the people who HAVE been affected by this disaster.

As it's been mildly amusing to see someone so determined to make a fool of herself, I wouldn’t THINK of suggesting that you shut up (or as you put it “STFU”). "OMG", aren’t you hilarious?! And what an impressive vocabulary! So telling of your intelligence & sophistication. If you troubled to THINK about what you say before spewing, you might note that once a fire of this magnitude establishes itself in the mountains, it's no longer “cool in the MTNS at night” because fires are, (what's the word?) - hot. Apparently, you're ALSO unaware that a fire like this creates its own, quite atypical, wind pattern that does not “die down” just because it’s dark.
