http://www.fusionfitnessstudio.net Listen to me explain WHAT the training secret to a smaller waistline really is and WHY it has nothing to do with performing a lot of crunches or sit-ups. • BUT if you work obliques, the oblique muscles expand, (like any other toned muscle), making you appear wider! No matter where or on which direction the muscle fibres go? As I understood it you should AVOID working obliques as visually you will appear wider. (that is if you are interested in the cosmetic effect). I believe in working muscles functionally so work everything anyway (and I am pretty flat, abdominally). Genes have a lot to do with everything too!

  • @catlawford Great question! I wish I had enough room here to answer it properly. I agree. Genetics play a huge role. Some people may probably never develop a "six-pack" tiny waist - I am one of those people. Not in my genetic make-up. However, building enough oblique muscle to increase your waist size and widen it as you say is HIGHLY unlikely. Most people have large waists NOT because of having over-developed oblique muscles, rather because of too much fat on top of a poorly toned midsection.

  • that makes so much sense, ive been doing so many crunshes and notice how wide i am and how short my torso is. THANKS!

  • @tvfan03 you're welcome. Glad I could help!

  • to everyone requesting a video showing a sampling of exercises that I'm talking about: I KNOW that I've been slacking on filming them. They are on my to-do list for next month for sure! Sorry for the delay. To be honest, I really didn't think there would be this much response for it! But I guess since there is such a huge lack of proper education in this area, there is also a huge potential for confusion on HOW to perform these exercises. Again, I apologize for the dealy..

  • OH MY GOODNESS, THANK YOUU!!!

I've been trying to get a smaller waist for months now.

And all I've done is sit-ups and crunches.

But, I wanted to know if you meant that we should just turn our torso back and forth with our elbows up for this exercise

Or if there were any other ways :)

  • @queridaxoxo Yes. Elbows up with arms out, using a cable or band. Use a variety of angles. Move slow. Thanks for your comment... glad I was able to help!

  • Hey! Have you tried - fast abs magic (google it)? Ive heard some great things about it and my GF got amazing 6 pack abs and lost lots of belly fat with it.

  • @FusionFPDoylestown So any videos yet? This is great information, but I would like to see some demonstrations of what types of exercises that can be done to attain such results. Thank you!

  • wow.. so interesting.. ur right. its interesting cause i have a twin sister and i mean we have the same body kinda.. i mean shes a lil slimmer than me but were pretty much alike, but she has a really slimmer waist line than i do. and all these time ive been crunching.. while shes wearing a corset... well plus she barely eats so shes skinnier than me. but long story short i got the abs she doesnt. she got the waist line i dont. =( hahhaha but i know what to work out now!
