this Is actually a ceremony into manhood they each have to make one themselves and this is very dangerous they have had many life threating injuries

I participated in this festival in 2006 as one of the fireworks bearers. It was a great honor being a Gaijin and being allowed to participate. I particularly enjoyed chanting 'Washoi' as we pulled a cart through town and danced around the sake barrels at each intersection before holding the fireworks that evening. It was an amazing experience...
