matrixate. Thank You very much. If I make just one hit, in my video, its not exciting and people dont get it. If I make three or more blows they like my video better. Whats a guy to do? I would really appreciate some of your video to see whats necessary. I always am willing to see good video on Escrima, so I can learn more. Waiting for the videos. Thanx
When doing picking, its about enticing your opponent to commit. If he commits completely, than you can take advantage of the situation that you created. But, he will hit really hard and and fast. So, picking is both good and bad. If he fails to take the bait he is direct hitting, which is both once again hard and very fast! You can be caught in your own trap. Manong Cabales loved the advanced moves. But, he was expert in redirection and deflection. You must become very good at reading your foe.
@Micahel213 In Serrada, twirling of the stick signifies the beginning and end of the demo. It also allows for quicker rotation. Though it can allow for an easier disarm or losing the stick w/ less experienced practitioners, it's not going to happen w/ someone like Master Ron's skill.
Micahel213, We have lumbricils at the finger joints which send signals to the brain allowing us to know the position of the hand during complex movements. We have 27 bones and 37 muscles. A lot of our brain centers around the manipulation of the hand. If we grip anything hard, it becomes a hammer grip pushing focus towards the ulnar bone. Basically we lose our ability to make intricate movements. Serrada men practice the twirls because of reversing and faking, advanced moves. Master Ron Saturno
