  • Seriously. Christ, you are good. Bout the best performance ive ever heard. How much of it is pure impro? And when you improvise, do you think you use a lot of "standard licks", if you know what i mean? I find it quite hard to imrovise over theese changes as you do. Any tips?

  • @1981wooten Many thanks!!! The solo is mainly improv. However I use a lot of Jazz lines which I try to have as my vocab. Think of improvisation as a form of speaking, the song is your subject while the lines are your vocabulary. A good starting place is with Charlie Parker, learn a short phrase, one or two chords, practice it in different keys and try to play it over similar chords. There are many opinions improv how much is made up on the spot but I think this way works pretty well.

  • youre amazing!!!! btw what bass are you using?

  • Wow thanks!!!

The bass is a G&L jb-2 with bassline pickups installed.

Pretty solid instrument, I think it's better than the new fenders, would definitely recommend this bass.

  • Beautiful! 2:20 makes me think you've studied some bebop :)

  • Yeah that's what a few years at McGill will do to ya :)

bebop bebop bebop, and more bebop.

If you ever want to hear an amazing composer/arranger check out Joe Sullivan

    He's a proff at McGill.

    Thanks again for watching
