Its 1990 and Im 11 seeing this on the CBC... I LOVE THE CBC AND CANADIAN CULTURAL OPTIMISM.

Rebecca Caine is arguably the most beautiful Christine in any AWL production. What a stunning face. While Sarah is still my favorite (her voice has an odd timbre to it but I love it), Rebecca's voice is warm, pitch-perfect, and clear as crystal. Just lovely.

I seriously got goosebumps. This is so amazing!

You should listen to Claire Moore- she was Sarah Brightman's understudy in London. She is amazing. Her "Think Of Me" is perfection.

I am the same way. Once I heard Rebecca's pefection I could never listen to Sarah again.

I love how Chrisitne's wig has changed so much over the years, not in style I mean, but in the way of how totoally 80's it was back then to the beautiful timeless curls ti is now.

I discovered that not long ago, actually.
I don't really care who was first when it comes to favorites though. I have almost no affinity for Sarah Brightman, the first Christine. I love Michael though.

Actually, ALW took the idea from a book called Phantom of Manhattan, which I hear is terrible. Robert Englund did not direct the movie version of Phantom that he was in, but there was a sequel written that never happened because their first movie was not so successful. I actually love that movie version though, it's my favorite. :)
Thank you for posting this - anyone else spot Neve Cambell as a ballerina? Definitely, without doubt, this is the route the movie version should have gone. At least then, no matter what critics would have said, it would have at least been an accurate depiction of the stage show, not other Joel S overkill party with leather and lace.

I like Colm as the phantom, but Michael Crawford is still the best (at least at this role)
