Yeah man I agree with you on a theoretical level. I guess I believe in an afterlife of some sort, but I don't believe in ghosts. Try thinking about contact with the dead like this:

Either ghosts exist or they don't (reality may not be so black/white, but lets assume), If they don't, then you are completely wasting your time. If they do, you are messing around with something potentially dangerous that you can't possibly understand. It is a lose-lose proposition.
