I've long been wanting to make a new Mount & Blade video since my last one, two years ago, and today I finally had time to do it.

It's not exactly Hollywood-material, and I know Windows Movie Maker is kinda lame. But I had fun while making it, even though using MovieMaker always causes problems of some kind.
To record the gameplay, I used FRAPS, and the music was composed by Adam Skorupa and Paweł Błaszczak.

It's supposed to be an unofficial "trailer" of sorts, composed of in-game material from the 1.010 version of Taleworlds' Mount & Blade.

Mount & Blade, for anyone who don't know, is a sandbox-style action-RPG set in a fictional medieval land known as Calradia.
Endless possibilities lie ahead as soon as you start the game, and you can become pretty much anything you can imagine. Merchant, traveller, adventurer, warlord, hero... You decide your own fate, and in Mount & Blade, this is more than just a gimmick.

Throw in a comment and tell me what you think of the movie. Maybe you've got some suggestions aswell. :)

  • I thought the opening was good, especially the ominous sunset shot. However, many of the battle images (as someone else mentioned) were not particularly engaging or dramatic. I suggest sticking to the third-person viewpoint, and slightly shorter action clips. Including a group of cavalry charging, peasants revolting with pitchforks, or group of soldiers running up a siege tower might made it more enthralling.

  • @carrigallen98 Definitely good advice, if I had put more time and effort into it, I'm sure I would have gotten some better material. It was just a fun little boredom-project, but if I ever decide to make another video, I'll definitely take more care doing that both during recording and editing of it all. And maybe I'll install some landscape-mods and use a better editing software. :)

    Thanks for the feedback!

  • nice Intro:D

one idea: it would have been great if you had mentioned which are the kingdoms(for those who don't know)

  • @072666 It's definitely an idea, but I kinda tried making it into a homage to movietrailers for epic films, with as little reading and as much atmosphere as possible. :)

  • btw what music did you use?

  • @Aznhano It's written in the video's description. :)

  • Trailer GENIAL 5 *

Par contre la caméra manque de fluidité et certaines scènes de combat manquent de saveur.

  • Very good trailer! ;)

  • @RPRXR Feel free to be more specific. Maybe I'll be able to do something about it in future videos. :)

  • @VR61661 Much appreciated, sir! :)

  • @sooowang It's mostly short because I finished it up really fast, I didn't intend on it getting even as good as it was (whether it's any good at all is for everyone else to decide). Also it's hard to keep a trailer long and still exciting. The music is especially tricky to pull off, especially since I have to use other people's work and not my own.

Now that WarBand is out, with its new features and all, I do not doubt that I'll be making a new video someday. Don't hold your breath, though! :)

  • @THETriggaHappy I believe the music deserves a lot of credit for the atmosphere of my trailer. Not being a commercial game developer, I don't have to stick to rules like "don't use copyrighted music" etc. I used the music from another game, which is a bit cheating. Still, thanks a lot for the compliment sir! :)

  • @Jazbec60 I thought about that myself, truth be told a few of the clips are filler-material. I pretty much did this in one afternoon, just for the boredom of it. if I was to put more effort into it, I would have used something other than Windows Movie Maker, and I would have been more careful what clips to put in there. But indeed, I did think about that clip. Just wanted to show the more "civilian" side of the game. :)
