I think as 'customers' we loose sight of why one artist covers another artists song. First I would think they admire that artist (Bowie) & the song & wish to 'tip their hat to them' by covering it. They may not wish to show them up by making theirs better, so they cover the song just to keep it circulating with the public, or do it in a totally different style. New people will see it & seek out the original or other covers. That's a GOOD thing!!
