Hi,
I've been composting for years and there are certain things that never go in a compost heap and one is human excreta....Stick to using leaves, coffee grounds (Starbucks will give you used coffee grounds free, by the bagful), leftover raw fruit and vegetables and eggshells. Oh, don't ever add weeds you've pulled up, either. Happy composting!

Many thanks for producing this excellent series and sharing it with us. Do you have any views on the addition of human excreta to compost heaps? I maintain that it is a valuable resource whereas my neighbour protests that it is anti social and demands that if I insist on using it, at least I should do it in a bucket inside the house and put it on the heap when they are not dining on the patio next door.
