TRANSLATION:
Q: Congratulations, we are really happy for you. Is this victory more precious than your 2004 Wimbledon victory, because back then, it was some kind of surprising, and now... it's harder to prove yourself again than to win for the first time (to conquer). So this victory is more precious, no?
MS: It's hard to say. I think my first gland slam title came to me unexpectedly, but i still was in shock when i won Wimbledon, and i'm in shock now. I didn't expect to win.
Q: In first set, 4 all, you enforced your game noticeably, did you do it on purpose or it is just the was it went?
MS: I think i took my chances, but when it was 4 all, i didn't want to play the third set, i knew i wanted to finish this match in two, so i tried my best.
Q: You were so concentrated, it was important not to hasten, like, you remember, it happened to Jankovic against Henin, she had chances but she hastened. You were so concentrated..
MS: No, i even didn't think about the fact i was serving for the match... I just went there, i was calm, i felt good, i wasn't even nervous.

  • does she have an accent when she speaks russian??? (like an english accent)

  • @nagainavyborg She is Russian in blood, but American by the mind.

  • She' cant speak Russian anymore. She's American ;)

  • Things like these make me laugh. Why are some of you so pressed about accents, origins, people's lifestyles, etc? I know some Russians who condescend her by saying "she's not Russian". Maria is happy with her life, so we should all be happy for her; no one should judge or discriminate people based on their heritage & how they choose to live their lives. Even if she has adapted the American lifestyle, she plays for Russia. What, is she disgracing Mother Russia by "not really being Russian"? STFU!

  • Her Russian is pretty much perfect which is surprising considering she lived in the US from the age of 7. Her accent is barely notable (I am actually not sure if there is any accent at all, just as someone said there is a slight difference in tone).

  • @tvaddict4u U know being russian it's something about your soul not about surroundings. And her russian is very good(2006 in this video), now its even better.

  • maria ja ljublju tebe!

  • Yes!

  • Maria's russian is even more fluent now than it was here! for the people who critisize her for having an american accent when she speaks, how fucking dare you! how can you expect her not to sound like an american? im not even american or russian but critisizing her like that is a disgrace, you should be lucky she actually can speak any russian pssst!
