Video of a Renishaw OMP40 Probe at work on a Haas VF3. The Reason I hade to probe each part is the 7/8" shaft wasn't welded on very accurately it varied by 0.080 from part to part, I use this method on a few other Projects. Like Sprockets 1" thick by 8-20" in diameter where I have to mill out a 6" hole in the centre of the Sprocket and for only 10 pcs a month it's much simpler to use this technique than to make a clamping Fixture that would centre Each Sprocket

**The Vises are Kurt Vises, very sturdy and solid vises. We've had them for over five years and they still operate like they are brand new. Although they are a little bit of a pain to take off the machine when we need the table**

  • I would build the jig's and fixtures for the product routine. Makes sense to me anyway.

  • This was a 1 time job that's why I used method, it took about 5min to set up and sure the cycle time was a little longer but since there where only a dozen parts it paid off

We bought a VF3SS also with the probing package and coupled with ONECNC cad/cam software I have made very complex programs for Dies that had a 5hr cycle time I did my offsets with the probe stared the program at 100% rapids and walked away, came back 5hr later and everything was to with in 0.0003-0

    0005 tolerance Amazing!!!

  • beep beep beep done!

  • Wish I had a customer base that would afford my shop CNC. I have been school'd in the class twice for fun.

    Autocad and Mastercam.

    Bridgeport Boss Mill Series II

Chicken Peck and Chicken Scratch controls.....etc....

    Suffer'd from CRASH PARANOIA......

  • It's funny when we got a Hass with the probe system we were all like "baaaaaaaah, you don't need that...". Now I don't know how I ever lived without it.

  • There Acually Hyrolic Vises. the Hydrolic Pump uses Air to Operate though, we can get up to 12,000 pounds of Clamping Force at the Jaws with only 3000psi of Oil Pressure from the Pumps

  • So far I hav'nt Notice any Proplems with close Tolerance Parts +/-0.0005. as for the Part in the Video it had a Tolerance of about +/-0.0150

  • i want those air vices!!!

  • i believe its coolant proof but we generate so much mist the tip would get covered in slime and make it less accurate than say an end stop.

whats the tolerance on that part?
