A parent doesn't have to be loud, verbally abusive, or intimidating to be utilizing negative parenting techniques verses positive parenting. If a child is shown everyday of their life only the negative on how they have completed a task, the one mistake they made of many decisions, or the one error they made on the test how does this affect their adult personality. Does negative parenting inspire confidence? Is a child that grows up in this type of environment likely to reach beyond....after all they might fail?
COPE24 is a non-profit 501(c)(3) status organizations that has developed, with input from the Missouri Department of Education, a 2-week Parenting Skills Program to be presented in classrooms around the nation. We want to be reaching young adults before they find themselves in a situation they are not emotionally ready to handle. Our goal is to give students realistic suggestions and alternative solutions to help them cope with a number of common issues that arise during child rearing. The Parenting Skills Program includes a Teacher's Manual with student worksheets and a complete DVD with 10 scenarios played out by professional actors/actresses engaged in situations that happen in homes all across America where children are being raised. It is our hope that this program will also cause a reduction in teen pregnancy as well as stopping the cycle of child abuse/neglect. Video's can be purchase @ www.COPE24.com
