I just read the comments about Denis lawson. My wife, who's 27 and just saw this for the first time said the same thing. I didn't get it but why would I. She also likes John Cusack and I think I might see a connection.

I'm not at all bothered about rouncer74 not liking this movie. I'm more curious as to what kind of brain you'd have to have not to 'get' or enjoy this amazingly well made film. Although having said that I was never a fan of nature at all. I became one sometime, somehow. Watching this movie reminds of the feeling of beginning to realize how wonderful and beautiful the natural world is. Beginning to stop and appreciate it and the quirky, funny people in it.

i cant see the fascination with this film....i mean it was slow, boring, uneventful and predictable. just wasted 101 minutes of my life viewing this crap.!! what a load of boring shit!

I used to know her back in the late seventies as she lived in Surrey for a while and we frequented the same nightspots. I was stunned to see her in Local Hero as I had no idea she wanted to act.
She currently appears in the Scottish drama 'Rebus' as the inspector.
