I headed up to Everton's training ground last week to meet the Socceroo star and it's got to be one of the best interviews I've done with a player... even if I did almost sabotage it with my wardrobe choice.
It was absolutely freezing in Liverpool so naturally I thought I'd wrap-up. The only problem was I didn't account for a small room with loads of camera lights while sitting on something giving out even more heat... I was dripping buckets!
It was so bad I started to feel dizzy, but I didn't think I could break the interview. In the end we had to because the beads of sweat sliding down my face were putting him off too much! We had some banter about it though, so it was alright and I have to say he was a top bloke.
We spoke a little bit about everything, including his Soccer Clinics in Australia. The idea is to get more young kids involved with football over there and it was great to hear how passionate he was about putting something back into the game.
I'm sure that will come across in VT which goes out on Saturday and there's loads more good stuff in there as well.
